Mid April-late October

Our Open Office hours are seasonal, just like the bees and the plants they pollinate. In order to provide time to care for the bees, restock the local stores near you with products, and offer tours, we are open limited hours from April-October.

About Us

Hillside Honey Apiary is a veteran family-owned and operated business.

We proudly offer unpasteurized, raw honey, creamed honey, infused honey, honey stix and a variety of all-natural, preservative-free and synthetic-free beeswax and honey skin care products, including lotions, creams, salves, deodorants, soaps, lip balms, sunscreen and more.

We now offer a line of Beekeeping supplies and equipment, Extractor rentals, Books on Beekeeping, Homesteading and Gardening, Bee gift items and more!

We extract, render wax, bottle honey and make all of our products on location, in our State Certified food processing kitchen.  Our hives are located at a variety of bee yards up and down the Missouri River Valley, to include Weston, Platte City, Rushville as well as all over the Leavenworth county area in Kansas.

We believe the 'earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it", Psalms 24:1.  As such, Beekeepers are just one of the many stewards God has on the Earth to take care of it.  Beekeepers must know a bit of everything to be a good steward, and at times we are not sure if we keep the bees, or the bees keep us.

We count every day a blessing, to be able to harvest and product quality products for your family to enjoy!

Our motto is "Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweet to the soul, health to the bones", Proverbs 16:24.  We believe this fits our business, family and our lives!  Kind words build friendships, build families... kind words truly are just like that beautifully pure honeycomb we all love, and are sweet and nourishing to our lives.

A Little Story about the history of Hillside Honey Apiary

We started with three bee hives in 2006 with our good friend, Ron Ward, teaching Ty about bees.  A few years passed, a loss of a good friend, a transition from the Army and we found ourselves revitalizing an old rural high school, built in 1920, in Easton, Kansas.  About the time we were thinking about the type of business we wanted to open in the building, Beth Ward contacted us about continuing on the legacy of their honey business and we found ourselves venturing into the life of  beekeepers!

We went from 3 to 40 hives overnight and have started the transformation of the old High School into an educational Apiary and beekeeping experience for all to enjoy.

We offer limited numbers of educational tours in the Spring and Summer.

Although we are not quite finished with the landscaping and currently expanding and refining the honey and beeswax product line, we appreciate suggestions from our awesome and ever-increasing patrons.  We hope you will join us in watching us grow and become an asset to the community and to your family.

In 1990, Ron and Beth Ward started Hillside Honey, bringing their family tradition of beekeeping forward to the next generation.
We are honored and blessed to continue their legacy into our own family's traditions of beekeeping, connecting the traditions and generations of both of our families.  We are thankful for the opportunity to become friends with this wonderful family.  We are thankful for the years we were able to share fellowship, memories, music, friendship and a love for beekeeping.
